There are still people who live just outside of Cape Cod who don't even know this place. Spend some time and then find a place to eat at one of the many places along Rt 6A.
Nice walk and shallow swimming area. Paid parking. Kayak rental.
I love the big beaches on both the marsh and the ocean side. The marsh side is ideal near boardwalk because there are shallow places to walk. Look out for poison ivy on the edges of the walk ways. There are quite a lot of steps to get down to the ocean side but the railings are pretty sturdy. The boardwalk itself is mostly exposed on the sides so be careful not to fall off. It also has some loose boards and a few missing ones that will probably be repaired soon. Both beaches have many rocks so bring good walking shoes. There are no showers or fountains so plan accordingly.
This is a great beach, especially for kids. There's a small bridge on the boardwalk where you can jump off and into the water. Go at mid to high tide to do that. Bring floats so you can float down the inlet back to the beach. The beach has two sides, ocean and dune side, with dune I find better and easier with kids.
Great place to visit. I read where someone wrote that they charge for parking. I have been visiting this location since the 80's and have never paid for parking. We were just there a few days ago (July 2017). When you visit the boardwalk using Boardwalk Road and park in the small parking lot located at the end we have never seen anyone pay or a way to pay. This spot is at the very start of the boardwalk. They even have an port-a-john so you have access to a bathroom.
This is a great place to take a walk to the beach, take pictures, look for sea glass, pretty stones and shells. The river is a nice place to swim, fish from the boardwalk or float down.
Amazing and magical place. Beyond beautiful and tranquil. One of the best places on Cape Cod to walk around and bridge jump, sun bathe, take pictures and paint. Meditation is a sinch to do here.
