We got seated right away on a busy Saturday night. Even though our waitress was over at, she was amazing. Our food was served quick and was so delicious. I had the prime and my husband got the peppered tuna. They were both delicious. My daughter lived the band. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I never post reviews, but I could not walk away from this one, especially when this is supposed to be fine dining. The Pilot House was recommended to us by a friend. What a disappointment! It was a Saturday night around 6:00 p.m. When we walked in there were four women standing at the hostess station. The two younger ones looked at us like we did something wrong by walking in. First question was, "do you have a reservation." Leading us to believe we needed one. There were no smiles, no pleasant conversation. Sent us to seating outside, there was a wait so we came back in and asked to be seated inside. Asked me again if I had a reservation. Same answer as two minutes before, no, then we were given probably one of the worse seats in the restaurant near the kitchen, half table, half booth. There were plenty of open tables. The next disappointment was the meal. While the main course was acceptable, they ran out of the vegetable we chose and the chef decided which vegetable we should have. There was no return to the table to select another option and when the food was put down before us there was no mention of the substitution. It was only after I asked that an explanation was given. Won't go back and won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
This was an EXTREMELY POOR EXPERIENCE. We attended the Pilot House over Labor Day weekend. Once we were seated, we waited over 10 minutes before someone came to the table to take our drink order. We ordered a bottle of wine, which the server had to have another server open for her, and a cocktail. Our server forgot to bring the cocktail and we had to ask her to bring it to the table. We ordered steamers as an appetizer and four entrees. While only halfway through the steamers, our entrees were placed on the table. One entree had the incorrect side dishes, and when we told our server, she only apologized and did not offer to get the correct order. The steak entree was ordered rare, but was served medium well. The mashed potatoes with the steak were ice cold. The table was never bussed, so our table was covered in plates. Our server brought our check without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert, or even if we were ready for the check. While we were eating, the floor manager, Andre, came to the table to ask everyone was ok, and he didn't notice that the table hadn't been bussed. Our plates were finally cleared, but before everyone finished eating. This was NOT an enjoyable or quality dining experience, especially since we spent over $200 for our meals. It is advertised as "fine dining", but it is far from it.
Meal didn't match menu. I ordered Seafood Pot Pie, and while I will say it was tasty there certainly was nothing "pot pie" about it. A pot pie is a pie shell filled with (whatever) and topped with a crust. This was a large flat bowl about 10" with no shell and a square piece of puff pastry about 3-4 inches wide just sitting on top of the fish. Really? I guess someone has to come in last at culinary school. And my wife ordered the baked stuff lobster, assuming it would be lime any other stuffed lobster we have had - stuffed with other seafood besides just the very expensive lobster. But no, this was just the lobster meat with some bread crumbs sprinkled on top. On top of that it was Luke warm when served - a big no-no. When we told the waiter of our disappoint he sent over the manager (some young guy who reeked of cheap cologne) who basically smiled and said "well not all restaurants serve it the same way". You know what, he's right, and that's why we won't be back to the Pilot House. The food was tasty, the service good, but very expensive for what you ultimately get.
As a party of 10, we showed up to the Pilot House at 9:56 pm on July 31, a Monday night, 4 minutes before the restaurant was supposed to close. We sent my niece in to see if they would serve us (we had very, very little hope). But they did! Everyone was so kind and welcoming. The kitchen staff agreed to stay late, the hostess couldn't have been more pleasant (sorry I didn't get her name), and our waiter, Dan, was so kind and helpful. We ordered several different items on the menu, including the lobster (which Dan had to help us crack into). We all enjoyed our meals completely, not one in our party was unsatisfied. We would highly recommend the Pilot House to anyone, especially weary tourists at the end of a long day. Thanks Dan, and the whole staff!
